Abstract

1403235 Scaffolding transom BURTON DELINGPOLE & CO Ltd 29 March 1973 [21 April 1972 17 Nov 1972] 18547/72 and 53165/ 72 Heading E1S A scaffold transom comprises an elongate metal tube 11 having a respective bracket 13 welded to each end, each bracket being made as a metal forging and having integral concave seatings 16a, 19b for engaging an upright tube and a ledger tube respectively, each bracket also having hinged thereto clamping jaws 24, 27 for clamping the upright and ledger tubes against their respective seatings, a portion of the bracket above the seating 19b being welded to the underside of the tube 11, and the jaw 24 being opposite the end of the tube 11 when clamped. The jaws 24, 27 are secured by respective screw-bolts 25, 29. The seating 16a may be shaped to engage an upright tube on one or both sides of its axial plane which is parallel with the axis of the tube 11. The central portion of the bracket 13, with the seating 19b and hinge lug 26 for the jaw 27, may be offset from the upper and lower ends of the bracket (Fig. 8, not shown). The upper end 13a of the bracket may be formed with a boss for welding into the end of the tube 11.
