Abstract

1403127 Chronographs EBAUCHES SA 7 March 1973 [15 March 1972] 10998/73 Heading G3T [Also in Division F2] In a clutch for use in a chronograph timepiece or other small mechanism, a driven wheel 3 is normally pressed by a spring 12 against a driving wheel 8, 9 which is retained by a shoulder 13 on a bush 10 fixed to shaft 11, so that the wheels, both of which are loosely mounted on the shaft or bush, rotate together and with the shaft. The driving connection may be broken by operation of a control element 18 which axially displaces a plate 15 and moves the spring and wheels along the shaft. The wheel 3 is thus brought against a fixed part 5a of the framework and braked thereby, while the wheel 8, 9 is free to rotate around the bush 10 and the shaft 11 is also free. The element 18 carries three conical studs 16 which engage the edges of holes 17 in the plate 15 to move the plate against the spring.
