841,399. Railway track brakes. STRACHAN & HENSHAW Ltd. Jan. 13, 1959 [Jan. 13, 1958], No. 1218/58. Class 103 (1). In a railway vehicle track brake of the type wherein a series of friction discs rotatable with a shaft 24 on the engagement of a wagon with an arm 40 are adapted to frictionally engage by springs 39 with other discs prevented from rotating by being in keyed engagement with a stationary member 20, the disc may be disengaged from one another by the operation of an hydraulic cylinder 43 and piston which acts against the spring 39 through member 29, the axis of the disc being disposed vertically as shown in Fig. 1. The arm 40 may be rotated out of the path of movement of a vehicle by operation of a fluid-pressure cylinder and piston 47, 46, which rotates the arm through rack 45 and pinion 44.
