Abstract

1402074 Article support for electro-plating ELECTROLOID Ltd 2 April 1974 [2 May 1973] 20938/73 Heading C7B In electro-plating hollow articles such as coffee pots, each article is held in a jig 1 with its open end upwards, the jig being supported for rotation about a horizontal axis and being mechanically connected to a vertically movable carrier 13, there being also a lost motion connection between the jig support and the carrier whereby upward movement of the carrier effects limited predetermined rotation of the jig to drain electrolyte out of the article before it is removed from the bath. As shown, the carrier 13 is slidable on vertical rod 11 mounted on bus-bar 4 between a lower limit 12 and an upper limit determined by spring 15. Initial carrier movement rotates jig 1 via the crank and con-rod arrangement 7,8,9, 10, 16 and gearwheels 5, 6 of which 5 is attached to the jig. As soon as the force of spring 15 balances the weight of the jig and article, rotation of the jig becomes stopped automatically and the whole assembly is then drawn out of the bath. The rod 8 may alternatively be connected through a lever (18) which reverses its motion Fig. 5 (not shown).
