Abstract

1401994 Valves MORINAGA MILK INDUSTRY CO Ltd 26 Oct 1972 [26 Oct 1971 (2) 10 July 1972 (2)] 49477/72 Heading F2V The portion of a valve shaft 14 which passes in and out of seal plate 19 in an asceptic valve is hermetically enclosed by a metallic bellows 17 so that fluid, such as milk, entering at port 28 and passing out through port 29 will not be contaminated by air, machine oil or the like. The shaft 14 is attached to a rod 4 to which is fixed a plate 5 and bellows 6 enclosing springs 8 and is actuated by air being forced into the cylinder 1 and compressing the bellows against the force of the spring. The shaft 14 has passageways 21, 22, 23 which channel any fluid which may leak into the bellows 17 to a detectable point at 32. The bellows 17 encloses a sleeve of lubricating material which increases the life of the bellows. The remote end of the rod is provided with an arm 10 which actuates switch box 11 or 12 depending upon its position.
