Abstract

140,159. Hunter, S., and Mackay, J. S. Jan. 30, 1919. Lift valves.-A lift stop-valve, of the kind provided with a balancing-piston controlled by a pilot valve seating on the main valve, is constructed so that the pilot valve can be easily withdrawn from the main valve. The piston d is formed as an extension of the valve b and is provided at its outer end, facing the cover of the valve, with an inwardly-directed flange providing an opening of sufficient size for the introduction or removal of the pilot valve h, this flange having secured thereto, as by studs, a detachable bridge or cover l to close the opening. The actuating- spindle c has a collar j adapted to engage the cover l to open the main valve after the auxiliary valve has been opened and the space behind the piston vented.
