Abstract

1401508 Mixing apparatus UNIVERSITY OF IFE 28 Aug 1973 [17 Nov 1972] 53284/72 Heading B1C Apparatus for mashing food such as boiled yam or plantain comprises a beater having a central shaft 1 and four blades 3, 4, 6, 7 equiangularly spaced and parallel to the shaft 1, the radial distance E/2 of the blades of a first pair 6, 7, being 3 to 6 inches, the radial distance K/2 of blades 3, 4 being 3 to 6 inches greater than E/2, each blade of the second pair being supported by a plurality of radial arms 5 spaced 3 to 6 inches apart, and the beater being mounted for rotation in a cylindrical bowl of internal diameter ¢ to 2¢ inches greater than the diameter K of the beater at the second pair of arms. The peripheral velocity of the second pair of blades is 1800 to 2500 feet per minute in use.
