Abstract
Stirrer for agitating a liq. with pairs of lateral arms on a rotating shaft, where each arm has a series of inclined faces or curved baffles which deflect the fluid upwards in distinct jets. Pref. the outlet area for each passage is similar and the inlet areas vary in proportion to their radial position to collect equiv. vols. of the fluid. Alt. the angles of the inclined faces change to produce a similarly balanced upthrust. Pref. the baffle walls are also curved to induce so some radial mixing of the upflow streams. For maintaining uniform turbulence and heat transfer in polymsn. reactors provides effective mixing without a central vortex, not susceptible to fouling.
