Abstract

1401145 CaCO 3 coated paper PLUSS-STAUFER AG 4 July 1973 [18 Oct 1972 3 April 1973] 31842/73 Heading B2E Paper is coated with a material comprising natural CaCO 3 having a weight average particle diameter of 0.5 to 0.7 microns, a maximum diameter of 3-4 microns, and a specific surface area of at least 12 m<SP>2</SP>/g. In examples the composition also may include starch, a polycarboxylic acid salt and polyacrylic acid. The fine CaCO 3 gives improved surface gloss and allows high pressure calendering.
