Abstract

1346960 Polymer coated papers WIGGINS TEAPE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 20 Sept 1972 43624/72 Heading B2E A polymer-coated paper (e.g. a photographic support) comprising a paper base, a synthetic polymer coating on each side of the paper, and sodium sulphate as antistatic agent in the body of the paper or on the surface thereof between the paper base and the polymer coating, wherein the amount of sodium sulphate is between 1.5 and 2.0% by weight of the paper base. Preferably the paper base is extrusion coated on one side with low density polyethylene contain 10wt% TiO 2 pigment, the coating amount being 40g/m<SP>2</SP> and on the other side with 40g/m<SP>2</SP> high density polyethylene. The sodium sulphate is preferably introduced into the paper base on a size press.
