1336800 Making pressure-sensitive record sheets; coating apparatus APPLETON PAPERS Inc 25 Aug 1971 [31 Aug 1970] 39848/71 Headings D1L and D2B Pressure-sensitive record sheet material comprising a paper web having an undercoat of an emulsion containing microcapsules containing a liquid colour-forming material and a top coat of a clay composition is made by passing a paper web 16 to a first coating station 20 where the emulsion coating is applied, doctoring the applied coating with an air knife 34 to the desired coating weight, drying the coating in dryer 42, coating the already-coated side of the web with a clay coating composition at a second coating section, doctoring the clay coating with an air-knife, and drying in dryer 86. Turnover bars 63 may be used to turn the web over in preparation for the second coating process.
