Abstract

1400021 Hank carriers E R SIX 28 Sept 1972 [19 Oct 1971] 44923/72 Heading D1J A hank carrier comprises two drums 15, 16 mounted perpendicularly on and to an arm 5 which is pivotal at 4 on a frame 1 between vertical (Fig 2, not shown) and horizontal positions, the shaft of drum 15 being able to move away from drum 16 to stretch a supported hank, means being provided between the frame I and drum 15 to move drum 15 from drum 16 as soon as arm 5 starts to move from its vertical to its horizontal position and to move drum 15 towards drum 16 when arm 5 is pivoted into its vertical position to allow a hank to be placed over the drums. The means between frame 1 and drum 15 comprises a telescopic spring loaded tube 19, 20 with a limited extensibility which serves to push drum 15 upwards in the vertical position of arm 5 and to pull drum 15 away from drum 16 in the operating position. Arm 5 operated by a pedal and is assisted in its movement by a spring 25. Yarn is unwound over end from drums 15 and 16 and is conducted by a guide at the top of rod 19 enroute to a winding machine.
