1399575 Continuous casting VSESOJUZNY ORDENA LENINA NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY I PROEKTNO - KONSTRUKTORSKY INSTITUT METALLURGICHESKOGO MASHINOSTROENIA and TSENTRAINY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI NAUCHNOISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT CHERNOI METALLURGII IMENI IP BARDINA 17 May 1973 23588/73 Heading B3F [Also in Division E2] A starter bar 1 has, at the end, lugs (12) with a pin 11 mounted between them for the pivoting of grippers 10 for engaging a knob 7 on a detachable head 2; to hold the grippers 10 closed on the knob 7, a ring 9 sits with its bevelled mouth resting on chamfers on the grippers but can be received in an annular groove 8 in the head 2 when arrested by a collar 6 at the bottom of a receiver 4 (for the head and cut length of the strand 3) when the bar 1 and grippers 10 are lowered through the collar 6 to allow the grippers to fall open and release the knob 7. For lowering a subsequent cut length of strand, the bar 1 is raised into the collar 6, without a head 2 and ring 9, and the grippers 10 are closed by a bevel at the opening 5 of the collar. The bar is raised until the ends of the lugs (12) engage the lower face of the length being cut.
