An apparatus arranged following a continuous casting installation for the purpose of releasing a thread-like casting connection of a dummy bar head, wherein a dummy bar receiver has associated therewith a rotary or turning mechanism with a substantially form-locking receiving opening for a cropped end of the strand possessing the thread-like casting connection.
