Abstract
1399573 Latches A REININGHAUS 7 May 1973 [9 May 1972] 21546/73 Heading E2A [Also in Divisions F4 and H2] A socket fitting for one or more fluorescent tubes, particularly for use in a suspended ceiling, comprises a housing formed in two pivotally connected sections, the rear section 10 being in the form of a rectangular box open at one side and having an electrical plug (14) projecting from its bottom for engagement with a socket on a busbar and the front section 11 carrying the lamp sockets 22 and the chokes (23) and other control gear. The rear section is provided at each end with a forked spring clamp 15 the arms 15a of which terminat in claws 15b adapted to engage the top of the busbar to provide physical support for the fitting, the arms being separable by means of a control stud 18 slidable in a tapered divid_ ing slot 16 between the arms. The pivotal connection between the sections comprises a bearing channel 12 extending along the lower edge of the open side of the rear section and a series of bearing tongues 13 projecting from the front section and received in the channel. The sections are held closed together by spring catches 20 integral with the clamps 15 and engageable in recesses 21 in the front section.
