1367787 Lighting fittings GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 5 Sept 1972 [28 Sept 1971] 45144/71 Heading F4R [Also in Divisions H2 and E2] A mounting device, Fig. 3, for supporting an electric lighting fitting comprises a flange or plate 22 adapted to be secured to a wall or ceiling and a boss 24 which projects from one side of the flange or plate and is provided with a plurality of outwardly directed resilient projections 29 adapted to engage behind the edge of a hole formed in the support wall of the fitting. The fitting can be released by flexing the projections inwardly towards the boss. The device may be associated with a two-part electric coupling comprising a socket part 33 (Fig. 4) adapted to be secured inside the boss and a plug part 34 (Fig. 5) adapted to be secured to the fitting. The socket part has a sloping shoulder 36 which rests on a complementary sloping shoulder 27 inside the boss and a plurality of projections 37 which snap past the end surface 26 of the device and secure the socket in position. The plug part has two pairs of abutment members 53 which project through the hole in the fitting and engage the edge of the hole and two fingers 52 which snap under the lower side of the edge of the hole and secure the plug to the fitting. The parts consist of body portions 35, 47 moulded from resilient plastics material, the socket part containing three bifurcated metal contact strips 38 retained in respective slots 39 by projecting tags 41 and the plug part containing three terminal pins 48 the upper ends of which are shrouded by an annular wall 49 and are adapted to project into the slots 39 and the lower ends of which are separated by partitions 51 and may be wired up to the lamp operating gear.
