Abstract

1397615 Laminated circuit boards AEGISOLIER-UND KUNSTSTOFF GmbH 14 July 1972 [20 July 1971] 33138/72 Heading B5N A printed circuit base having on one or both faces a degradable heat-hardenable adhesive film is made by applying the adhesive as a film to a cover foil, bonding the foil to the base, removing the foil at least at the parts to be provided with conductive material, and immediately degrading the exposed adhesive surface to improve its quality. The foil is preferably of aluminium (but may be tin-based); it may remain on the base during the formation of boreholes through the article and may then be removed by etching at those places to which the conductors will be applied. The adhesive may be an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer/phenolic resin blend, may contain a catalyst to facilitate electroless deposition of the conductive elements, and may be heat-treated before bonding. The base may be a stack of epoxy-impregnated glass fibre tissues or a ceramic or thermoplastic article. The adhesive may be chemically degraded.
