Abstract

139,682. Krauer, J. May 3, 1919. Hair, special drying-appliances for.-The apparatus has two parts, one of which is adapted to direct hot air or other gas on to the scalp, and the other to receive the hanging portion of the hair and to direct hot air &c. upon it, the two supplies of hot air being so arranged that the drying of the scalp and long hair is finished simultaneously and the scalp is not unduly heated. Fig. 1 shows one form of apparatus in which hot air is supplied to the space c and passes through holes f to the scalp, while another supply is directed to the space g for the long hair. The supplies are governed by separate cooks e, j. Another supply may be directed on to the nape of the neck by the jet s. The receptacle k has a lid h and a gap at the back through which the hair is passed to the space g. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which hot air is supplied to the space c for drying the scalp, and to the space 8 with a perforated roof 9 for drying the long hair coiled round the piece 11. A lid 20 and an electric heater 21 are provided. Air is supplied by a fan 30, Fig. 10, and reaches the heater through an adjustable tubular standard 25 and pipe 32. Perforations 23 governed by a valve supply hot air to the nape of the neck.
