Abstract

1394738 Feeding sheets ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP 12 May 1972 [13 May 1971] 22512/72 Heading B8R Sheets 16 are separated from the top of a pile 18 by a friction wheel 114 mounted on a feed foot 24 which for the feed of each sheet has imparted thereto in response to a signal from a copying-machine 12 a plurality of small forward and rearward movements by a vibrator solenoid 64, the sheet being free to rotate and roll over the sheet on the rearward stroke and prevented from rotating on the forward stroke, by means of a one-way clutch. The foot 24 is supported on a four bar linkage, and as the pile decreases in height the foot thus drops under gravity without changing its orientation. The pressure of the foot on the pile is controlled by an adjustable counterweight. When the foot is in its forward position, it is slightly angled downwardly and rearwardly so as to be orientated at an angle of 82 degrees to the pile support 20. The movement of the foot is in a direction inclined at an angle of 4 degrees to the feed direction to the machine 12, so that each sheet is laterally registered against a vertical side register plate 76. Excessive vibration of the foot is prevented by a dampener weight 132 connected thereto.
