1394447 Nitrohydroxydiphenyl monoethers UNION RHEINISCHE BRAUNKOHLEN KRAFTSTOFF AG 22 Nov 1972 [22 Nov 1971] 54009/72 Heading C2C In a process for the production of p,p<SP>1</SP>-nitrohydroxydiphenyl monoethers an alkali salt of a p-dihydroxybenzene is reacted in an aprotic solvent with less than 1À0 molecular proportion of p-nitrochlorobenzene. The reaction may be carried out in the presence of small amounts of reducing substances, e.g. sulphites. In examples: Hydroquinone is reacted with p-nitrochlorobenzene in the presence of dimethyl sulphoxide (1) and hexamethylphosphoric acid triamide (2).
