1298480 Diaminodiphenylmethane UPJOHN CO 11 Sept 1970 [6 Oct 1969] 43601/70 Addition to 1181763 Heading C2C The invention comprises the improvement of employing in the initial reaction mixture a, total amount of water within the range of 6 to 8 moles per mole of aniline, in a process for the preparation of di(aminophenyl)methane by condensing from 2 to 3 moles of aniline with one mole of formaldehyde in the presence of not more than 1 mole of hydrochloric acid per mole of aniline at a temperature within the range of 0‹ to 60‹ C. and maintaining the reaction mixture within said temperature range at least until the presence of bonds can no longer be detected.
