Abstract

1488314 Hydroxyanthraquinones CIBAGEIGY AG 26 Aug 1975 [27 Aug 1974] 35210/75 Heading C2C Hydroxyanthraquinones are prepared by reacting nitroanthraquinones with aqueous solutions of alkali metal hydroxides in the presence of dipolar aprotic solvents at above 70‹ C. The preferred dipolar aprotic solvents contain a tertiary acid amide group or a group of the formula -SO 2 - or -SO-, and the preferred alkali metal hydroxides are sodium and potassium hydroxides.
