Abstract
1394441 Tractive greases MONSANTO CO 12 May 1972 [13 May 1971] 22357/72 Addition to 1190836 Heading C4X A tractive grease comprises a thickener and a base stock having a coefficient of traction of at least 0À06 and comprising a compound containing 12-70 carbon atoms (up to 8 of which may be replaced by O, N or Si) and having in its structure at least one a saturated carbon-containing, 6-membered ring. The thickener may comprise 5-25 wt. per cent of the composition. Many base stock compounds are specified. The thickener may be, e.g. clay, silica, alumina, graphite, mica, talc, diatomaceous earth, a soap, a synthetic polymer such as a poly-urea, or an organosiloxane. In examples, the base stock is 2,4-dicyclohexyl-2-methyl-pentane, or a mixture thereof with dicyclohexyl-1,2-cyclohexane-dicarboxylate.
