Abstract

1,179,122. Lubricants. MIDLAND SILICONES Ltd. 16 May, 1967 [23 May, 1966], No. 22930/66. Heading C5F. Lubricants are stabilized against oxidation by the addition thereto of minor amounts of a compound wherein at least one silicon atom and at least one amino nitrogen atom are linked through a divalent aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical, e.g. compounds of formula where each R is a monovalent hydrocarbon or hydrocarbonoxy-hydrocarbyl radical, n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, Z is a divalent saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical, X is alkyl or aryl and Y is alkyl, aryl or hydrogen. The lubricant may be a mineral or synthetic oil, e.g. dioctyl sebacate and alkanoic ester of polyhydric alcohols, which may be thickened to a grease with lithium or zinc stearate, clay, graphite or copper phthalocyanine.
