Abstract

1,136,723. Lubricants. ALBRIGHT & WILSON (MFG.) Ltd. 13 April, 1966 [ 15 April, 1965], No. 16297/65. Heading C5F. A lubricant comprises a mineral oil, a trihydrocarbon trithiophosphite and a metal dialkyl dithionophosphate. The phosphite may be a tri-C 6 -C 18 -alkyl phosphite, e.g. trilauryl trithiophosphite. The phosphate may have the general formula where R is an alkyl group, e.g. isopropyl, octyl or lauryl, M is divalent zinc, lead, nickel, chromium, or molybdenum or monovalent copper. The phosphate and phosphite may together form up to 10 wt. per cent of the lubricant and may yield synergistic compositions (proportions being specified).
