Abstract
1394156 Printing presses W H GRANGER 15 Feb 1973 [19 Jan 1973] 7478/73 Heading B6C A rotary printing press has a plate cylinder, Fig. 2, driven from a vertical shaft via gears 31, 32 to a cross-shaft 33 and a bevel gear 41 or 42 to a bevel gear 46 mounted on one end of the axle of the plate cylinder in which the connection between the cross-shaft 33 to bevel gear 41 or 42 is via a driven sleeve 61, Fig. 7, having external gear teeth 58 which mesh with internal gears 56 or 57 on the bevel gears 41 or 42. The sleeve 61 is splined on cross-shaft 33 and shifted by a bellcrank lever 71 actuated by a hand wheel 83 and screwed shaft 82.
