Abstract

1405611 Steering vehicles BURMAN & SONS Ltd 25 June 1973 [7 July 1972] 31901/72 Heading B7H A vehicle steering gear is provided with a fluid pressure actuated piston and cylinder for assisting operation and driver actuable valve means for controlling the unit. The gear comprises a worm shaft 10 engaging a hollow nut and a piston 17 having external teeth which engage teeth of a gear sector 14 on a rocker shaft (15), (Fig. 2, not shown). The valve means comprises angularly movable members 20 and 19. The member 20 is an extension of the worm shaft 10 while the member 19 is connectible to a steering shaft, the members 19, 20 being connected by a torsion bar 21.
