Abstract
1394138 Rotary actuators MITSUBISHI KINZOKU K K 27 April 1973 [28 April 1972 (2)] 20161/73 Heading F1F [Also in Division G3] A hydraulic servo-mechanism comprises a rotor 5 integral with an output shaft 6 and concentrically mounted on an input shaft 4 capable of axial and rotational movement relative to shaft 6. Rotor 5 has radially outwardly extending projections 9,10, 11 which sealingly engage the bore of a casing 1 having radially inwardly extending spring-loaded partition members 12 to 15 defining variable volume chambers 25 to 30. Oil can be selectively supplied to and exhausted from the latter by a control valve 101 so as to rotate rotor 5 in either direction. Control valve 101 is constituted by an oil supply port 18 and exhaust ports 19, 20 in the periphery of input shaft 4 co-operating with helical or other oblique ports 21, 22 in a gun metal liner 7 secured to rotor 5. Ports 21, 22 connect respectively with axially spaced annular passages 23, 24 communicating through passages 23a, 24a &c. in rotor 5 with respective chambers 25 to 30. Thus axial and/or rotary movement of input shaft 4 from the neutral position shown results in a corresponding rotation of rotor 5 and output shaft 6 in either direction. In a modification the helical ports are provided in input shaft 4 rather than liner 7. In a further arrangement Fig.2a (not shown) rotor 5 is of modified shape and spring- loaded partitions 12 to 15 are replaced by fixed partitions (12, 13).
