1393519 Lighting fittings PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 Jan 1974 02443/74 Heading F4R A tubular lighting fitting comprises an elongated open-ended trough-like batten 2 and two end members 4 each of which is provided with a first portion A closing a respective end of the batten and a second portion (B) having a lampholder for one end of a tubular lamp, each end member being fixed to the batten by means of a respective spring plate 9 which extends between the inner faces of the two sides 6, 7 of the batten and the arrangement being such that on screwing the end member to the plate by means of a single screw 12 the plate distorts and presses against the sides of the batten. The plate is U-shaped, and the corners of the free ends of the legs 31 are sharp and are bent slightly outwards so that they bite into the sides 6, 7 when the screw is tightened. A pull-cord switch 41 may be accommodated in an aperture in one of the end members.
