Abstract

1454509 Lampholder; circuit board connector PRESS AC Ltd 20 May 1974 [21 May 1973] 24062/73 Heading H2E A lampholder 1 intended to be mounted on a panel 4 is held against flexible circuit sheet flaps 3 in an opening 5 in the panel by pairs of resilient fingers 6 formed as part of the holder with a resilient electrical contact 2 between each pair projecting from the holder. The rectangular opening 5 has a raised surround so that as the holder is inserted contacts 2 sandwich flaps 3 against members 5b as ends 8 of the resilient fingers 6 abut sheet 3a. The ends 8 of each pair of fingers are joined. The holder is retained on insertion by slight outward movement of the elbows (7a Fig. 1, not shown) as they pass beyond the narrowest part of the opening. In the embodiment shown the holder insertion direction opposes the bulb insertion direction. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 6-8, not shown) these directions are the same, and also the edges of the opening 5 are merely curved. The contacts in the embodiments (Figs. 9 and 10, not shown) are described. In each embodiment the lamp pinch is engaged by member (2a) of the contacts. The holder may be of nylon or other resilient plastics material and may alternatively be held in an intermediate tube which is then itself panel mounted.
