1393146 Air-cooled surface heat exchangers; ventilating tunnels TRANSELEKTRO MAGYAR VILLAMOSSAGI KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT 1 Sept 1972 [4 Oct 1971] 40567/72 Headings F4S and F4V Ambient air flows by natural convection through an underground passage from an inlet 2 to an outlet 6 both open to the atmosphere and a surface-type heat exchanger 4, in which a fluid such as water is cooled by the air, is located in the passage, the heat exchanger being positioned at least partly in an upright outlet section 5 of the passage. The outlet section 5 may be extended by a chimney (15, Fig. 3). In the form shown, the fluid cooled in the heat exchanger 4 emanates from a power station 13 located in a horizontal section 1 of the underground passage, and the power station chimney 14 extends into the upright section 5 of the passage.
