Crushers with gyratory heads.-A gyratory crushing-roll or other part is pressed frictionally on a taper shaft S by a screwed sleeve M secured by one or more keys or the like k to a cylindrical part s<1> of the shaft and engaging a nut N bearing against the roll H or provided with lugs loosely engaging slots in the roll, zinc z filling the space between the nut and roll. A layer of zinc z<1> may be interposed between the shaft and the roll, which may be of chilled iron or, as shown, may have a cast-iron core h<2> and a manganesesteel cover h<3> separated by zinc z<2>.
