Rollers for rolling, grinding, and crushing mills are formed with a thin shell A of soft metal such as unchilled iron, the space between the shell and the spindle C being filled with a composition B such as Portland cement, rust, and sand, which is run in in a plastic condition and allowed to set or solidify. The spindle and the interior of the shell may be roughened or corrugated.
