1391778 Releasable fastenings PRE-STRESS PIONEERS Ltd 11 Jan 1974 01432/74 Addition to 1307513 Heading E2B In a modification of the anchoring and tensioning assembly according to the parent Specificaton 1307513 the plate 132 is locatable in the bearing cup 120 parallel to the outer face of the anchor head 21 and is freely movable normally therefrom and the drift wedge 130 is locatable in the bearing cup on that side of the plate remote from the anchor head and substantially parallel thereto. The drift wedge is adapted to limit movement of the plate normally away from the anchor head so as to maintain loose registration of the or each grip 27 in its associated aperture but out of substantial frictional contact with the strands 11 and on lateral movement of the drift wedge in the bearing cup to move the plate towards the outer face of the anchor head so as to urge the or each grip into seating engagement with its associated aperture and into full frictional contact with the strands, the bearing cup being adapted to at least partially circumscribe the anchor head. As shown, the U- shaped bearing cup has sloped shoulders 124 which co-operate with the sloped faces 128 of the drift wedge, and the face of the plate opposing the anchor head is of shallow conical or pyramidal configuration. In modifications, (a) the face of the template adjoining the drift wedge is sloped to co-operate with the sloping face of the drift wedge, and (b) the bearing cup has on the open side thereof and fixed thereto a bridge carrying an hydraulic or a screw jack for forcing the drift wedge against the shoulders 124.
