Abstract
1391549 Colour television INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 17 Aug 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 38392/72 Heading H4F A PAL colour television receiver includes a demodulator 2, subcarrier oscillator 4, 90 degree phase shifter 5, one-line delay line 8, and switches 3, 6 switched at the end of each line period. Due to the operation of switch 3 the demodulator 2 demodulates the received signal to produce the R-Y signal in alternate line periods and the B-Y signal in the intervening line periods. The R-Y output 7 is connected by switch 6 alternately to the output of demodulator 2 and the output of delay line 8, and the B-Y output is alternately connected to the delay line output and the demodulator output. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), for converting an existing NTSC or "simple- PAL" receiver, separate R-Y and B-Y demodulators are used, the input to the oneline delay being switched at half line frequency between the two demodulator outputs. The R-Y output is connected alternately at halfline frequency to the outputs of the R-Y demodulator and the delay line and the B-Y output is connected alternately to the outputs of the delay line and the B-Y demodulator.
