Abstract

1358551 Colour television RCA CORPORATION 1 May 1972 [7 May 1971] 13859/71 Heading H4F A PAL colour television receiver is modified to receive SECAM (Registered Trade Mark) colour television signals. The demodulated SECAM signals are passed to an amplitude modulator 7 which also receives an input from the PAL reference oscillator 9 via a switch 14 and 90 degrees phase shifter 12, so that the R-Y signal is modulated at 0 degrees phase and the B-Y signal at +90 degrees phase. The signal from the modulator 7 is passed to the PAL demodulation circuitry including a oneline delay line 15 which causes a 180 degree phase shift in a received signal. The R-Y and B-Y signals are then produced at the outputs of demodulators 26, 19. The received SECAM. R-Y and B-Y signals are frequency modulated on to subcarriers at different frequencies and may originally be demodulated by two frequency discriminators or by one frequency discriminator 5 which has its centre frequency changed line by line.
