Abstract

1333886 Colour television PYE Ltd 4 Sept 1972 40961/72 Heading H4F The quadrature modulated subcarrier chroma signals U and V are separated while maintaining their quadrature relationship from a PAL colour signal with quarter line offset by means of two comb filters connected in series. As shown a PAL signal at input 1 is fed via a high pass filter 2, which passes the chroma signal and the high frequency components of the luminance signal Y, directly and via a delay of two line periods 4, 8 to an adding circuit 6, and directly to a difference circuit 13. The output from adding circuit 6 comprises 2Y and this is reduced to Y by potential divider 11 and passed to difference circuit 13. The output from difference circuit 13 is passed directly and via a delay line 17 having a delay of one line less one quarter of the colour subcarrier period to adding circuit 19 and to differencing circuit21 from which are derived the V and U chroma subcarrier signals with their quadrature relationship which are demodulated in synchronous demodulators 26 and 27 to obtain the chrominance signals Œ (R-Y) and (B-Y).
