Abstract

1508402 Television INDESIT INDUSTRIA ELETTRODOMESTICI ITALIANA SpA 8 June 1976 [12 June 1975] 23621/76 Heading H4F A PAL type decoder comprises a pair of demodulators 4 and 5 receiving the chrominance signal of a television transmission and one or the other of a pair of antiphased reference oscillations from a pair of controlled oscillators 7 and 8 each fed with alternate bursts of reference colour subcarrier in the transmitted signal via switches 3 and 6. The demodulator reference oscillations are switched in alternation at the line frequency switches 15 and 16 operating simultaneously with burst distributer switch 6. Each demodulator has a pair of outputs (+, -) from which signals dependent on the colour difference signals (M and V) continuously emanate (i.e. there is no line frequency switching between outputs) due to the alternating reference oscillations applied to the demodulators. These outputs are matrixed 17 to 29 with the luminance component Y to derive the colour signal outputs R, G and B. As a result of this arrangement the same outputs from demodulators 4 and 5 are obtained regardless of the relationship between the switching cycle of distributer switch 6 and the burst phase swing cycle of the received signal. The burst phase angle oscillates between values Œ30 degrees or Œ150 degrees disposed symmetrically about the stationary chrominance component U.
