Abstract
1389604 Salts of aromatic carboxylic acids PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO 13 Sept 1972 42566/72 Heading C2C Zn, Cd, Hg, Pb and Fe salts of aromatic carboxylic acids having the formula R(COOH) n where R is an aryl or alkaryl hydrocarbon group and n is 1, 2 or 3, are prepared by heating the free carboxylic acid with a slurry of an oxide of Zn Cd, Hg, Pb or Fe in an organic dispersant which inert under the reaction conditions and liquid at the reaction temperature. The organic dispersant is preferably an aromatic hydrocarbon having a boiling point above 250 C. The examples relate to the production of zinc benzoate.
