138,868. Neyret, Beylier, et Cie. Feb. 8, 1919, [Convention date]. Pulping-engines.-In pulping-engines, the bedplate 5 is mounted on levers pivoted at 6 within a conduit 29 for the pulp. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the bed-plate is pressed against the roll 1 by a weighted lever 8, the weight 7 on which may be adjusted by a hand-wheel 10. and an adjustable spring device 17 takes the shock when lumps pass between the roll and bed-plate. The bedplate may be withdrawn from the roll 1 by moving the weight 7 to the opposite end of the lever 8; the tappets 18 thus engage, and the outward movement of the bed-plate is limited by a stop. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the bed-plate is pressed against the roll by a pair of weighted levers 8 having spring devices 17, the levers 8 acting on rods 16, provided with tappets or cams which press against the under side of the bedplate, the weights on the levers 8 being adjusted by chain mechanism. The pulp may be circulated by a propeller.
