Abstract

1388343 Checking and picking shuttles ADOLPH SAURER Ltd 4 Sept 1973 [4 Sept 1972 7 Aug 1973] 41591/73 Heading D1E Pairs of driven rollers 21, 22, 23 having progressively smaller peripheral speeds away from the shed act in turn on a shuttle 18 to slow it before it reaches a stop member 33. The rollers are mounted on arms 29, 30, 31 pivoted at A and joined by a bar 28 at their free ends. As the shuttle strikes roller pair 21 it is slowed and when it subsequently engages rollers 22 rollers 21 are moved out of contact with it. To provide this effect the roller trains may be inclined to the path of the shuttle or may be of increasingly large diameter in the direction of shuttle movement. The final pair of rollers have a slipping clutch arrangement to prevent wear when the shuttle is finally boxed. Each roller may be replaced by a pair of rollers with a drive band around them. A pair of picking rollers 24 are provided and a cam pair on shaft 40 ensures that when braking takes place the picking rollers are moved back out of action and vice-versa.
