A roller 10 used in drawing synthetic yarn has a driving member (e.g. a phosphor-bronze helical gear 29) mounted on its shaft 11 by a resilient connection (e.g. as shown or with the pins 20, 21 fixed in the gear 29 and the resilient bushes 25, 26 in bores in a boss 18 keyed to the shaft 11).
