The main patent describes a braking and drive device for the protection of a weaving machine with several drivable rollers arranged one after the other in the weft direction or pairs of rollers wrapped around by a running belt, of which at least the ones used to brake the shuttle are optionally in an effective position in which they cooperate with the shuttle, and can be brought into an inoperative position and can be driven in the direction away from the selvedge with decreasing peripheral speed.
In order to design such a device more simply and in such a way that at least the roles used for shuttle braking can be switched from the effective position to the inactive position by the shuttle himself, the invention according to the main patent provides that at least the roles used for shuttle braking in a direction transverse to the Roller axes lying plane are jointly arranged displaceably and are pretensioned in the direction against the shuttle support, that the arrangement is made such that the distances between the roll circumferences from the shuttle support in the direction away from the selvedge are smaller and that in the rest position in which the shuttle is not is located between the circumferences of the rolls and the shooter support, the largest of the specified distances is at most equal to the shooter thickness.
In the device according to the main patent, the shooter is held pressed against a fixed stop by the last effective roller when braking, the driven roller sliding over the shooter. The relative movement between the circumference of the roller and the shooter at the same point on the surface of the shooter results in local heating and wear, which have a negative effect.
To avoid this, according to the invention, the roller or pair of rollers last acting on the shooter during braking is frictionally connected to its drive, the frictional torque that can be transmitted between roller and drive being smaller than the friction torque acting between the shooter and roller on the roller circumference.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing. Only that part of the braking and drive device shown as a whole in FIG. 3 of the main patent is shown which is modified according to the invention according to the additional patent.
The braking roller 23 is rotatably mounted in its center M on a pivot arm 27 which is inclined towards the firing direction S and which is pivotable about a stationary articulation point A. The roller 23 is driven in the direction of the arrow, specifically at a lower peripheral speed than the rollers, not shown, lying to the right of it in the firing direction S, which have slightly smaller diameters with increasing distance from the roller 23. The center points M of all rollers and their articulation points A of the swivel arms lie on parallels to the gunner's path or the firing direction S. Rods 28 also run along such a parallel and are connected at articulation point B to the lower, cranked end 31 of the swivel arm 27.
Each rod 28 is via a spring 32, which is supported on the stop 33 to stop the shooter 18, seen in Fig. 3 to the right and due to the inclination of the connecting line between the pivot point B of the rod 28 on the pivot arm 27 and the pivot point A of the Swivel arm 27 towards the firing direction towards the shooting range, d. H. pressed vertically to the firing direction S.
Due to this arrangement, when the shooter coming from the right enters between two rollers of a roller pair, all rollers are moved slightly away from the shooter track via the rod 28, so that the roller pair arranged on the right in front of the relevant roller pair with faster driven rollers of smaller diameter are released from the shooter. When the already largely braked shooter 18 has finally passed the two rollers 23 of the last roller pair, he comes to a standstill at the stop 33.
In the main patent, the drive connection between the rollers 23 and their drives is not described. The usual, form-fitting drive connection would lead to the fact that the further driven rollers 23 would slide with their periphery over the two shooter surfaces, which results in the described undesired heating and wear of the shooter and roller. In the construction shown in the figure, a roller bearing 51, for. B. a ball bearing installed. The roller can therefore only transmit a drive torque that is limited by the rolling friction in the roller bearing 51.
This drive torque is smaller than the friction torque transmitted to the circumference of the rollers 23 when the shooters 18 are at a standstill, so that the rollers 23 stop when the shooter 18 has reached the stop 33 while the drive shafts 52 continue to run. You only have to accept the usual wear and tear of the bearings.
