Abstract

1387980 Seaming non-metallic sheet material WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER 18 April 1973 [12 May 1972] 18803/73 Heading B5K [Also in Division B8] Thermoplastic sheets S in flattened tube form are welded along their leading edges to form bags by welding beams 6 on a cylinder 1 which also carries folding blades 8 behind each pair of welding beams (e.g. by a distance of half a bag length, and each flattened bag is stripped from the cylinder 1 and simultaneously folded transversely in two by folding tongs 11 co-operating with the blades 8 and mounted on a drum 3, which deposits the folded bag on a stacking table 4. For providing a second fold, a further pair of folding tongs 13 is provided on the drum 3 behind each pair of tongs 11 to co-operate with a folding blade 14 on a drum 5 (e.g. to fold the bags into four. Alternatively, the blades 8 and tongs 13 may be positioned so as to fold the bags into three.
