Abstract
1387703 Explosive compositions EXPLOSIVES CORP OF AMERICA 27 Sept 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 44612/72 Heading C1D An explosive composition comprises (a) ammonium nitrate with or without a minor amount of ammonium perchloriate or a metal nitrate or perchlorate and (b) a combination of hydrazine and water in which the weight of water is at least half the weight of the hydrazine, the weight ratio of component (b) to component (a) being from 1 to 2 : 15. Monomethyl hydrazine or dimethyl hydrazine may be used in place of hydrazine. Components (a) and (b) may be factory mixed or supplied in separate containers in a package, component (b) being added to (a) at the place of use. Carbon black, sugar, aluminium powder, or ground polyethylene may be added to component (a) as an additional fuel. Component (b) may be hydrazine hydrate with or without additional water. The explosive composition is cap-senstive in a tubular container of diameter 1¢ to 3 inches.
