Abstract

1387312 Connector boxes SIEMENS AG 24 March 1972 [3 April 1971] 13991/72 Heading H2E An arrangement for providing electrical facilities below a floor surface comprises a cover, 11, Fig. 1, hinged to one side of a compensating frame 9 secured in the floor and an electrical device carrier 10, Fig. 4, pivoted to the frame, such that it can be pivoted from a first position in which the cover may be closed flush with the floor, to a second position, in which it projects above the floor, an abutment surface 33 of the device bearing against the frame, such that a mechanical loading placed on the carrier will be supported by the frame. A container 2, Fig. 1, fixed in the floor, has an inner frame 4 and a cover frame 7, the compensating frame 9 fitting in the central aperture 8. The frames 4 and 7 have levelling and securing screws, details of which are given. Attached to the frame 9 is an apparatus carrier 10 having two power sockets 12, a line output box 13, and a hinged cover 11. Cable, e.g. telephone lines, extend from the box 13 to the exterior via the packing or seal 14. The carrier 10, formed with side walls, has arms 18, Fig. 4, which are pivotally connected to a second pair of arms 20 attached to the compensating frame, springs 21 being secured between the pairs of arms to raise the carrier on opening of the cover. The wall 23 of the carrier has two recesses which engage corresponding projections 25 in the cover, engagement being maintained by a magnet 26 in the carrier and an iron member 27 in the cover. The cover has side walls 28 attached to one of which is a leaf spring 29 which limits rotation of the lid. The spring may be disengaged to allow the cover to be completely opened. Further light current electrical apparatus may be secured in the container 2, e.g. in the space between the carrier 10 and that side of the frame 9 to which the cover is hinged, and may be covered by a plastic foil glued to the frame. Rubber packing 36 serves to protect against foreign bodies and damp. The access aperture 8 may be square thus allowing rotation of the compensating frame to suit particular requirements.
