Abstract

900,552. Hinges. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 6, 1960 [Oct. 7, 1959], No. 34009/59. Class 65 (2). In an electrical equipment housing, particularly a fluorescent lighting fitting, comprising a main body 7 with a surrounding flange 10 and a removable hinged cover 1 having a flange 2 adapted to engage the flange 10, at least one slot 12 is formed in the flange 10 and an adjacent side wall 9 of the main body to receive a lug 3 carried by the cover and a hinge pin 5 extending transversely of the lug, the part 16 of the slot for receiving the hinge pin being offset from the main part of the slot on the side wall 9 so that when the hinge pin and lug are inserted into the slot and the cover is closed the hinge pin is caused to move along the surface of the body at the back of the slot towards the underneath part of the flange 10. Preferably two lugs and slots are provided and are located on either side of a conduit access 11, and the body 7 is formed with an inner wall 8 and a sealing gasket 24 to prevent foreign matter from entering the interior.
