Abstract
1,120,999. Meter housings. I.J. KIGHTLEY. Nov.15, 1966 [Aug. 16, 1965], No.35026/65. Heading G1Q. A housing, designed for insertion into an outer wall of a building to accommodate a meter such as an electricity meter required to be accessible from outside the building, consists of a sleeve 11 having an internal flange or shoulder 16 for supporting a meter board 20, the axis of the sleeve being so inclined to the plane defined by the flange or shoulder that when the assembly is mounted in a wall the roof of the housing slopes downwardly from the board to the outside of the wall. In Fig. 1 the board constitutes a partition between two halves of the housing. One side 20a of the partition carries the meter 21 and other apparatus required to be accessible to the supply authority, and on this side the housing has a door 28 opening on to the outside of the cavity wall 12 in which it is mounted. On the other side 20b are mounted the consumer's terminals and switch box. Both the roof and floor of the outer compartment slope downwardly toward the outside, to protect the meter and other apparatus on the board from moisture contamination. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) depict a box generally corresponding to the left hand half of the box of Fig. 1 and consisting of a sleeve open at its outer end and flanged at its inner end to receive a back board corresponding to the board 20 of Fig. 1.
