Abstract

1387155 Extrusion R A CREUZET 10 Feb 1972 [26 March 1971] 6366/72 Heading B3P A metal tube extrusion press comprises a set of billet containers 12, &c. arranged regularly around and parallel to the extrusion axis 11 and co-operating with an annular plate 22 provided with channels 23a, 23b for each container to direct billet flow to an annular extrusion gap. The containers have co-operating pistons 14, &c. operated by one or more hydraulie jacks in unison. The plate 22 co-operates with an extrusion needle (25), Fig. 3 (not shown), to define an annular orifice (33). The channels 23a, 23b are provided in the inner periphery of the plate 22 and the inner periphery is defined by a pair of tapered regions (22<SP>1</SP>), (2211) providing a metal guiding duct (26).
