Abstract

1386637 Sorting mail LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-GmbH 30 June 1972 [30 June 1971] 30799/72 Heading B8A A distribution machine for rectangular flat items, e.g. letters, comprises a plurality of vertical distribution conveyer paths 1 branching downwardly from a horizontal main conveyer path 20, a plurality of stacking compartments 3, 4 being connected on both sides of each vertical distribution conveyer path to form a pair of columns of compartments between the or each pair of neighbouring distribution conveyer paths. The items are transferred to paths 1 by deflectors 21 and to stacking compartments 3, 4 by deflectors 8 in co-operation with fixed rollers 9, movable rollers 7 and endless belts 11, the movable roller associated with one compartment being co-operable with the fixed roller of the adjacent compartment on the other side of the distribution path.
